The South Brevard Sharing Center provides short-term emergency assistance and hope to needy individuals and families in the Brevard County Area. The agency provides food, clothing, health and hygiene items, furniture, and even financial assistance when funds are available. The South Brevard Sharing Center is looking for caring individuals who are positive, dependable, and can donate their time to help others. Opportunities are available in all the areas below. Please call (321) 727-8581 Ext. 211 for more information and to join our team! http://mysbsc.org Volunteer Positions Desired Marketing Specialist – Melbourne (1 position) •Write Public Service Announcements for service, programs, and events. •Update and create SBSC flyers, brochures, and other promotional material. •Solicit event and program sponsors, partners, and donors. •Work with SBSC staff to increase SBSC visibility. •Utilize Craig’s list, the SBSC website, and other internet media to promote SBSC and its programs, services and events. •Work with SBSC staff and volunteers in the development of the quarterly newsletter. •Develop and implement a marketing plan with the assistance of the management team. •Position requires good computer skills, the ability to work online and with various software programs such as MS Word, Publisher and more. •Position requires excellent written and oral communication skills. Fundraising Specialist – Melbourne (1 position) •Work with management and admin staff to create and implement a fundraising plan. •Create SBSC fundraising promotional material. •Solicit event and program sponsors, partners, and donors. •Work with SBSC staff to create relationships with fundraising partners, donors and sponsors. •Utilize Craig’s list, the SBSC website, and other internet media to promote SBSC and its programs, services and events. •Develop and implement a marketing plan with the assistance of the management team. •Requires good computer skills and the ability to work online and with various software programs such as MS Word, Publisher and more. •Requires excellent written and oral communication skills. E-commerce assistant – Melbourne (1 position) •Work with operations director to select donated items for online auctions •Assist with selection of preferred shipper •Create or post accurate, detailed descriptions of items •Monitor email for bidder inquiries and provide information as necessary •Access seller account to ascertain payment transactions in preparation for shipping •Pack items securely for shipping •Send winning bidder shipping confirmation emails with tracking information •Advise operations director of customer service issues which require immediate resolution Pickup/Delivery Assistant – Melbourne/Palm Bay (1 position) •Provide assistance to SBSC driver with respect to customer contacts and GPS address entry •Assist with pickup of large or heavy items •Follow driver direction regarding lifting and overall safety when in or around the truck •Clean cab/ box of truck under driver supervision when necessary Palm Bay Thrift Item Bay Assistant – Palm Bay (2 positions) •Move furniture and miscellaneous items in/out of exterior bays as necessary •Assist truck staff with loading/unloading furniture and items •Assist with arranging furniture showroom to create attractive displays •Move furniture from showroom to staging area in preparation for delivery Client Services Receptionist – Melbourne/Palm Bay (2 positions) •Answer phones/direct callers to appropriate staff for assistance •Create new client files as necessary •Pull client files for HMIS staff •Arrange files for service based upon client arrival order •Answer basic questions about service provision •Keep reception area clean and safe •Good phone skills and adequate PC skills required Client Services HMIS Intake Staff – Melbourne/Palm Bay (4 positions) •Attend Bell Data Systems Privacy and Security/Intake training as provided by 211 Brevard •Enter confidential client information into HMIS •Determine client eligibility for services based on income •Determine client service needs and provide services as available •Enter all services into HMIS for tracking purposes •Refer clients to other agencies as necessary Thrift Store Donation Receiving/Sorting/Grading Specialist – Melbourne/Palm Bay (multiple positions) •Receive donated goods at rear of store •Sort/grade items depending on type and quality •Prepare items for sale on store sales floor •Assist in creation of store displays •Keep all store areas clean and safe Thrift Store Marketing and Promotional Assistant – Melbourne/Palm Bay (1 position) •Work with management to develop an advertising and marketing plan for both thrift stores •Assist in creation of promotional/sale schedule for stores •Provide support for managers by researching values on rare or unusual items •Work with internet sales team to identify and transfer inventory to be sold on eBay
